More info about this project

The new Boston Scientific Headquarters provides an open and

collaborative work environment to foster greater teamwork and efficiency,

benefitting employees, customers, and ultimately, the patients they treat.

Boston Scientific Corporation, a worldwide developer, manufacturer and marketer of medical devices recently established a new headquarters on its Marlborough, Massachusetts campus. This expansion represents a consolidation of their Natick, Massachusetts global headquarters into its Marlborough, Massachusetts facility, where the new global headquarters campus has been established.

The existing Marlborough facility was known for its open and collaborative work environment. With that in mind, the Boston office of Horton Lees Brogden Lighting Design was tasked with continuing that same environment with the design of the new headquarters facility. The consolidation occurred in phases, commencing in the spring of 2013 with completion and a grand opening in July 2014. The building now serves as the new global headquarters and the new home of the Endoscopy and Urology & Women’s Health divisions.

The headquarters building was constructed to LEED© (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) New Construction Certification standards to maximize its energy efficiency, while minimizing its enviromental impact.

Architectural Coves throughout the building are brightly lit with Feelux Lighting FLX STIX HDV Series (HO) LED fixtures in 3000K. The compact, yet powerful luminaire provided the ideal solution to illuminate the various coves and organic curves with a “socket shadow free” result. The versatile fixture allowed for easy installation with internal magnets or mounting brackets and a variety of fixture lengths from 6” to 4’ to accomodate the various cove contours and curves found throughout the project.

The ultra slim fixture is powered with a constant voltage DC 24V transformer and features a quick connection system. The variety of accessories for 90 degree corners, side feeds, power feeds and connecting cables provided a versatile tool set for installing over 2800 ft. of the HDV Series throughout this project.
